10 Years of Sex: A tribute to Carrie's incredible, memorable style

Since I've been a freelance writer in real life, there were many, many times where I would get irrationally angry at Carrie Bradshaw's completely unrealistic fashion budget and even at her imaginary ham-handed columns (there's no way that God made little green apples that an editor would let you repeat the same "I had to wonder..." construction with such frequency). Still, I've interviewed SJP and I love her and I know we're talking fantasy here—I am not above admitting the great (if guilty) pleasure I derived from watching Ms. Bradshaw's sartorial and romantic escapades over the past decade. Here's my small (and completely not comprehensive) tribute.

Oh, Lady, you wore a big fur, classic aviators and the best heels to...a baseball game! (applause)

This is from when she briefly dated that politician—it is awesome in a Jackie-O-meticulous way.

My favorite kind of Carrie. Earthy, breezy, well-accessorized.
I have been searching for a vintage dress like this for about 7.5 years.

Remember how you were all pissed because the dress you wanted to wear was stuck at the dry cleaners and you wore this and then ran into Big? I think it worked out fine.

The big necklaces were fantastic.

It's insane and a little bit unfair that you look so good in white mesh.

Even though you were totally wrong for each other, I kind of wanted you to marry Aidan in this dress that night and just see if maybe it could work out like arranged marriages sometimes do.

Seriously, a white blazer and a yellow Mickey Mouse t-shirt? Genius.

Yeah, like Enid had a chance with Alexandr while you were wearing this.

Everything you put on in Paris was incredible, including this happy dress in a sad moment.

When I interviewed Sarah Jessica Parker, she said this was her favorite dress ever on the show...

...but this one was mine.

10 Years of 'Sex:' How "Sex and the City" changed our lives

It's finally here! The much-anticipated "Sex and the City: The Movie" comes out this weekend, and many of us 'Sex' addicts will be shaking up some cosmos with our best gal pals ahead of a night at the movies to celebrate.

We, the editors here at Shine, have been having our own virtual cosmo party here on the site by blogging about the last 10 fabulous years with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. That's right; it was June 1998 when the first episode aired on HBO, and my how the world is different now thanks to them. For one, the pretty-in-pink cosmopolitan cocktail is now a favorite of ladies nationwide. And how many of you would have coveted Jimmy Choos or Manolos before Carrie sported them? Also, would we have even blinked 10 years ago if someone was talking about going to bed with their "rabbit?"

So many great moments to cherish, and we've done our best here to sum them up. Hope you enjoy our little trip down SATC memory lane.

Our favorite New Yorker Girls are back!

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), successful author and everyone's favorite fashion icon-next-door, is back, her famously sardonic wit intact sharper than ever, as she continues to narrate her own story about s e x, love and the fashion-obsessed single woman in New York City. The movie finds Carrie, Samantha (Kim Cattral), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) four years after the hit HBO series ended, as our favorite friends continue to juggle jobs and relationships while navigating motherhood, marriage and Manhattan real estate.

Sex and the City Fashion: Carrie

Carrie Bradshaw is a style icon and she definitely has the most fashionable wardrobe of all the SATC girls.

Sarah Jessica Parker has one of the most enviable jobs in the world playing journalist Carrie and getting to act out every woman's fashion fantasy.

Carrie's dress sense is quirky and bold and she isn't afraid to stand out from the crowd in the name of style.

She famously loves her designer labels and has a particular penchant for Manolo Blahnik shoes.

Carrie wears the clothes we all wish we had the bottle (and money) to wear- whether that be Dior Couture for a hot date or a Balenciaga prom dress for a spot of sightseeing in Paris.

Although she turns shopping into a serious competitive sport Carrie isn't afraid to have fun with fashion. We love the candy stripe uniform she wore to suprise a sick Big and the fun French inspired look she sported before her move to Paris.

Another Carrie trademark is the oversized accessories- particularly the huge flower corsages she loves to wear. They are a great way to dress up any outfit and give even the most simple of dresses a unique Carrie edge.

Just because we love Carrie's style now doesn't mean she's always got it right. Check out this look for the first series of SATC. Is there ever any excuse for a feather boa to be worn by anyone other than drag queen's and girls on hen parties?
