10 Years of Sex: The best of Miranda and Charlotte style

Did you know? It's Sex and the City week here at Shine and, OK, readers, I have a confession to make: I have seen the new movie. And I suspect many of you will like it very much when it comes out...on Friday! Just three days away! In the meantime, though, let's just enjoy some SATC nostalgia. Starting with the underrated style of underrated characters Charlotte and Miranda (both of whom I totally love).

Charlotte:

I am especially partial to Charlotte in the first couple of seasons, when she had a sexy intellectual thing going, more than when she became a total Upper East Side preppy lady.

What I learned from Charlotte York: Well-done hair, subtle makeup and a classic pair of gold earrings can take a girl a long way.

Kristen Davis seriously knows how to work a little black dress.

Oh, she sure looked beautiful as Mrs. Trey MacDougal, but maybe not as much as...

...Mrs. Harry Goldenblatt.



Miranda:

You know, Cynthia Nixon had it a little tough. She was always the least femininely dressed, often in suits, always with really short hair. But I think she pulled it off beautifully, managing to look sexy beneath all the business-ness.

This outfit has a chic, European- woman-going-to-work vibe.

I gotta say, I think Miranda outshines everyone in this classy-sparkly v-neck.

Love the sharp cut of this top...

...this beaded necklace...

...and how this funky belt completely transforms a plain shirt dress.
Also: Miranda was worried about plastic bags long before the rest of us.

Sex and the City Fashion: Miranda

Miranda's style may have left a lot to be desire in the early episodes of Sex and the City but throughout it's six year run she blossomed into a truly yummy mummy.

Miranda Hobbs, played by real life lesbian Cynthia Nixon, has the style of a butch gay woman at the start of the hit series and with outfits like this is it any wonder she soon got labeled as the least fashionable SATC girl?

The "Sloppy Joe" Look

Miranda is a high flying lawyer and a devoted mother so her fashion needs to be easy to wear and versatile. After the birth of Brady we see Miranda's style get much more relaxed and this laid back work look is perfect for a woman on the go.

The Office Style

She might be wearing a formal suit but colorful shoes, open collar and lightly styled hair gives it a chilled out, sexier look.

Miranda might spend most of her time either working or taking care of Brady but when she hits the down she transforms into a totally hot mama.

The Glamour Look

In series six Miranda is excited to be able to squeeze into her favourite skinny jeans so she heads out with the girl's to show off her new found curves.

Miranda also knows how to do glamour. This sparkly Moschino shrug creates the perfect evening look as she works the room with confidence.

Stylish & Sexy

Miranda is the woman every mother wishes she could be. She manages to balance a stressful career and family life and still finds time for her friends- all whilst looking effortlessly stylish!
